What is The Playcode Method?

Practical, screen-free learning experiences that develop critical thinking, creativity and confidence in Grades R-3.

Building thinking skills today. Creating problem-solvers for tomorrow.

What is Foundation Phase Coding & Robotics?

It is the introduction of computational thinking and robotics concepts through hands-on, playful activities. Children learn to think logically, create instructions, solve problems and understand how digital systems work - without needing computers or tablets.
These skills build a stong foundation for future learning in any subject and for life.

  • Robotic systems and desing

Our learning approach

1. Physical Play

Learners experience the concept through movement, games and hands-on activities.

2. Guided Learning

The learner explains and models the thinking behind the activity under the guidance of the educator.

3. Workbook Reinforcement

Learners complete engaging workbook activites that reinforce and consolidate their thinking.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need coding experience to teach or facilitate this?

No tech experience needed! Our detailed lesson plans guide you step by step, so every lesson is simple to deliver. Children discover coding concepts the natural way — through active, hands-on play.

Is the program CAPS-aligned?

Yes, absolutely! Our programme is fully CAPS aligned, ensuring that the required competency skills for each grade and term are met.

How much time is needed for each week's lesson?

We've done the planning for you! Each lesson plan is fully worked out — you simply need to familiarise yourself with the content. Grades R–2 require around 45 minutes per week, and Grade 3 requires 2 hours per week, as prescribed by the CAPS curriculum
